About Kayla
Kayla Switzer wrote the UFE and failed. She realized very quickly that experienced writers do not get the same support as first time writers, but she was determined to succeed on her second attempt. To ensure success she made phone calls, wrote emails and spoke with anyone who was willing to help her pass the UFE.
Inspired to help subsequent experienced writers when she passed, she wrote “"I Failed the UFE! Now What? An experienced writer’s survival guide."” This is a one-stop, all-purpose book for experienced writers; a step-by-step survival guide to rewriting the UFE with success! Order the book today!
Kayla articled with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in Vancouver, BC. She is a Chartered Accountant and is currently the Controller of a real estate investment firm in Santa Monica, California and a mentor for experienced writers. Check out mentor and marking services here.
3. How will this book help me?
You need support, and this book will give it to you. Unfortunately, there is not the same support for experienced writers as there is for first time writers. You need this book to ensure that you are on the right track towards success on the UFE.
Frequently asked questions
1. Should I have a marker?
Yes! Everyone needs help marking one or two cases per week. If you do not have a marker from your firm, then hire one. See my mentor and marking services here.
4. What does the book include?
"I Failed the UFE! Now what? An experienced writers survival guide" provides a comprehensive step-by-step process to rewriting the UFE with success. It starts in December when you first receive your unsuccessful results and walks you through what you need to do month by month.
It is edited by Bruce Densmore, who has extensive UFE experience and adds invaluable insight into how to succeed on the UFE. It answers the burning questions you have, like: when do I start studying again?; should I have a study partner?; should my study partner be an experienced writer?; when do I sign up for courses?
2. Should I have a mentor?
Yes! Failing the UFE is hard to handle on your own, and you need guidance. As an experienced writer you need a mentor you is a successful experienced writer so that they know what you are going through! If you do not have a mentor from your firm, then hire one. See my mentor and marking services here.
2. Will my firm pay for marking, mentoring, and/or this book?
They should! Talk to the Partner in charge of the UFE, or to the UFE committee if you have one, and educate them about the needs of an experienced writer. It's not that they don't want to help you; it's that they don't know how. Explain the differences between a first time writer and an experienced writer so that they can understand why you need this book.
